Golden-and-silver honeysuckle, also known as Japanese honeysuckle, is a popular plant in traditional Chinese medicine. Its flowers open white and fade to yellow, giving it its name. Its flowers are sweetly vanilla scented and are a food source for many wild lives including hummingbirds and deer.

The plant is native to eastern Asia. In Chinese medicine, the dried leaves and flowers of the golden-and-silver honeysuckle are used to treat cough, fever and sore throat.

Although the plant is popular in China, it is considered as an invasive species in a number of countries including the United States. The golden-and-silver honeysuckle was first brought from Japan to the United States as an ornamental plant in the early 1990s, but it has become invasive in many places and out-competed native plants for nutrients. In Texas, it's classified as a noxious weed.

Here are some beautiful photos of this plant.
