The colorful bird that walks on floating plants

The Purple Gallinule is not only purple as its name suggests. The bird feathers combine red, green, blue, yellow, and violet, making it very attractive. The big brightly bird likes to walk on floating plants, so it's usually found near swamps and marshes. Due to the loss of wetlands, its population is decreasing.

The bird has strong legs and long toes and it's a remarkable flier. They eat a variety of plants and animals including fruit, leaves, frogs, fish and insects.

On February 26th, 2020, some purple gallinules were seen in a field at Kizilirmak Delta Wetland and Bird Sanctuary in Samsun, Turkey. Veysel Altun took these beautiful photos below.
