Gul Yurdakon lives in Istanbul, Turkey. She has been a nurse since 1996 and is the head emergency nurse in her hospital. After the COVID-19 stroke Istanbul, fear and despair spread among the general population and the medical workers fighting on the front line. Yurdakon has comforted and helped them overcome hardships during the crisis. "We are angels without wings," she said. "A smile from my patients gives me the strength to go on."
