China issues white paper on COVID-19 fight

China firmly believes that as long as all countries unite and cooperate to mount a collective response, the international community will succeed in overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the white paper. The world will "emerge from this dark moment in human history into a brighter future."

Xu Lin, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and director of the State Council Information Office, said at the press conference that Chinese people will remember the hardship and sacrifices in fighting against COVID-19. "All 1.4 billion Chinese people are warriors in the fight," Xu added.

China grieves for those who have been killed and those who have sacrificed their lives, extends the greatest respect to those who are struggling to save lives, and offers true moral support to those who are infected and receiving treatment, Xu said.

China has no concealment in COVID-19 fight

China has neither delayed nor concealed in the battle against COVID-19 and has made important contributions to the international community, Ma Xiaowei, director of the National Health Commission (NHC), said.

China races to develop vaccine

The Minister of Science and Technology Wang Zhigang said at the press conference that China is racing to develop COVID-19 vaccines. He noted that vaccine safety has been a priority in research and development.

Vaccines are key to the fight against the epidemic and it is the right choice to cooperate internationally, Wang added.

All COVID-19 patients, confirmed or suspected, received subsidies from state finance for any medical bills not covered by basic medical insurance, serious disease insurance or the medical assistance fund.

Chinese media has no interest in 'information war'

Chinese media has no interest in so-called 'information war' in the battle against COVID-19, but must respond when facing smears against China, said Xu.

He stressed the response is not a war of words but an effort to restore the truth. The COVID-19 epidemic is still spreading, Xu noted, calling for worldwide cooperation instead of shirking responsibilities.

He also praised the approximately 480 Chinese journalists who responded immediately and arrived in Wuhan City to carry out comprehensive reports.

Chinese resume work with caution

Work and production have gradually resumed in China amid novel coronavirus control, said Wang Chen, vice president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and president of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, during the press conference.

Wang said China has put in place a set of guidelines to facilitate regular prevention and control of the COVID-19 disease.

Making people's lives and health its first priority, China adopted extensive, stringent, and thorough containment measures, and has for now succeeded in cutting all channels for the transmission of the virus.

China's ties with others strengthened

China has been cooperating with other countries amid the COVID-19 fight, said Ma Zhaoxu, the country's vice minister of foreign affairs.

China's ties with other countries have been strengthened rather than "undermined" and the country's "friend circle" has expanded amid the global fight against COVID-19, Ma added.
