Golden pheasants, also known as rainbow pheasants, are native to forests in mountainous areas of China. The male golden pheasant is very colorful, featuring a golden-yellow crest with a hint of red at the tip. The hen is a lot less showy with darker feathers and a slender body.
A few golden pheasants were found foraging in Yuncheng City, north China's Shanxi Province, as the environment in the region has been improving and the number of bird species, including the golden pheasant and the swan, is increasing.
