We Talk: Americans' take on China-U.S. relations

In a recent interview with Foreign Policy magazine, American journalist Fareed Zakaria said that China has the drive to achieve peace, stability and global integration, with no intention of undermining the existing international system. According to him, America's China policy has been excessively confrontational, and a more cooperative approach might have made a difference. CGTN Stringer interviewed several Americans who share their thoughts on whether China's rise and development is beneficial to other countries, or that the United States is exaggerating the "China challenge," as well as how China-U.S. relations should be mutually beneficial in the future. Rebecca Myles, an American citizen, said that China's Belt and Road Initiative connects China with Asia and Africa, aiding countries along the route in strengthening infrastructure construction to benefit the local population. American citizen Joseph Jones hopes that China and the United States can work together, as international competition should not have a single winner, but instead create a space for all countries to develop together.
