In February 1962, U.S. President John F. Kennedy imposed a trade embargo on Cuba, under which Cubans have now lived for 60 years. The blockade has been denounced by Cubans who claim that it has severely damaged the island nation's economy.

Jose Sanches do Nascimento is a Cuban biologist who runs an aquarium shop in Havana. Due to the U.S. embargo, he has been unable to buy enough equipment to feed his fish, which makes his business more difficult. He emphasized that, "It's the Cuban people who suffer most under the embargo."
