'Mini three links' expected to see over 11,000 passenger trips amid Qingming Festival

More than 11,000 inbound and outbound passenger trips under the "mini three links" arrangement between the Chinese mainland and the Taiwan region are expected during the upcoming Qingming Festival, according to the Xiamen General Station of Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection on Tuesday.

The average daily passenger flow in expected to increase by approximately 25 percent compared with March.

The "mini three links" refer to direct trade, postal and transport services which were launched on January 1, 2001 between the mainland's Fujian Province and Taiwan-administered Kinmen and Matsu islands.

Starting from April 1, the "mini three links" passenger route between Fuzhou and Matsu increased from four trips per day to eight.

According to an official at the Xiamen general station, during the festival, which falls on April 4 this year, inbound and outbound passengers at Fujian ports will mainly return to their hometowns to visit relatives, pay tribute to their ancestors, and travel.

Besides, the frequency of services under the "mini three links" passenger route from Quanzhou City in Fujian Province to Kinmen increased to one round trip per day starting from Monday, according to China Media Group.
