The siraitia plant requires a very special environment to grow. More than 90 percent in China grow in the Yuechengling Mountains around Longsheng Autonomous County and Yongfu County, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
As the leader of the biggest planting and processing base of the siraitia in Longsheng Various Ethnic Autonomous County, Tang Luwu, manager of Lyuran Produce Development Cooperative, has helped villagers to grow the siraitia to increase their incomes.
The area of siraitia fields has now exceeded 2,300 hectares in Longsheg and more than 3,000 households have been lifted out of poverty. With the development of siraitia planting and processing, ecotourism and other ecological industries, the entire Longsheng Autonomous County shook off poverty in 2018.
