06:27

In Chuandong Village in Maochang Town, southwest China's Guizhou Province, dawn is just breaking when Zeng Fangguo sets out to pick up workers from another village to work in the Chinese honeylocust forests. Zeng is a wealthy planter in Maochang, and cultivating Chinese honeylocusts, Gleditsia sinensis, is his primary income earner. However, as the harvesting time for the honeylocusts is long, he also plants pumpkins, oilseed rapes and other cash crops to maximize his economic benefits. It brings Zeng profits and provides jobs and salaries for the local workers. Zeng's business is doing well, but that was not always the case. He overcame the hardship thanks to the local Gain-for-Green policy that gave him an allowance. Watch this episode for the story.
