What are the responsibilities of the state when it comes to political advancement? Is increasing people's participation in the decision-making process enough or must it also optimize the political system?

In the past decade, China made significant achievements on both fronts – not only did the people's democracy flourished, Xi Jinping's Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era met the country's need for political and ideological advancement.

The government also improved people's involvement in national decision-making. While the CPC membership went up, the participation of non-CPC entities increased as well.

Important examples in this direction are the introduction of a national security law and electoral reforms in Hong Kong. Statistics also show that Hong Kong has fared well since its return to the motherland, especially its economy in the past decade.
